คำถามค้างคาจากคราวก่อนที่พูดถึงมาตรฐานเว็บแบบใหม่ของ Internet Explorer 8 เพิ่งได้ข้อมูลคุณสมบัติใหม่ของ IE8 มาบางส่วน เทคโนโลยีใหม่ปรากฎอยู่ที่หน้า Welcome ของ IE8 Beta 1 มีอยู่ 2 อย่าง คือ  WebSlices และ Activities

WebSlices จะทำให้ผู้ใช้สามารถทำการ subscribe กับบางส่วนของเนื้อหาในเว็บไซต์  และติดตามความเคลื่อนไหวของส่วนนั้น โดยทำงานเชื่อมโยงกับ Favorites ไมโครซอฟท์อธิบายไว้ว่า

Developers can mark parts of webpages as ‘WebSlices’ and enable users to monitor information they rely on as they move about the web. With a click in the Favorites bar, users see rich ‘WebSlice’ visuals and developers establish a valuable, persistent end-user connection.

อ่านแล้วก็สับสนหน่อยๆ อาจจะต้องรอจนตัวจริงออกมาก่อน อีกส่วนที่เรียกว่า Activities เป็นระบบ contextual services โดยถูกออกแบบให้การคัดลอกและวางระหว่างเว็บเพจทำได้ง่ายขึ้น

Activities give users ready access to the online services they care about most from any page they visit, and developers gain an easy way to extend the reach of their online services. It’s as simple as selecting text to get started with an Activity.

คุณสมบัติใหม่อย่างอื่น ได้แก่ favorites bar แบบใหม่  ระบบ automatic crash recovery ที่จะคืนหน้าเดิมที่เปิดค้างไว้หาก IE เกิดปิดตัวลง (ตามหลัง Firefox และ Opera) และ เวอร์ชั่นปรับปรุงใหม่ของ phishing filter ทีมี Safety Filter เข้ามาด้วย รายละเอียดอื่นและภาพตัวอย่างแบบเต็มๆ และอาจรวมถึงเวอร์ชั่นทดสอบสำหรับผู้ใช้ทั่วไป ไมโครซอฟท์จะนำมาแสดงในงาน MIX 08
